Wilmar is a Senior Associate at BRS NL.
Wilmar’s passion for antitrust started during his legal studies at the University of Leiden, writing his thesis on competition law in relation to mobile networks. After his internships at Clifford Chance (Select Class) as well as Andersen Legal, he started working as a lawyer at Stibbe in the telecom media technology department working for Vodafone, Translink (Dutch public transport card) and various IT companies. He was also a legal advisor at Grolsch (currently part of ASAHI Brewers).
Wilmar holds a master’s degree in civil law and has a particular interest in constitutional law (apart from his love for competition law). He studied ‘derecho constitutional’ at the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain) and took ‘US constitutional law’ with Professor Massey (UC Law San Francisco).
Wilmar has recenly ‘renewed his vows’ as a lawyer after a career as an entrepreneur, international strategist, and business leader. He co-founded an Amsterdam based sunglass brand, had his own boutique strategy agency, and worked for several large corporates (Molson Coors, Beiersdorf, Sandoz US, Orbia / Wavin Group, Unilever, WPP, Netflix, Amazon). Wilmar sits on the Advisory Board at the Vrije Universiteit School of Business & Economics in Amsterdam and has won multiple marketing awards including European Excellence and Esprix. He has lived in the UK (twice), and has worked across Europe and the US. Wilmar is a dual US-NL citizen, and is fluent in German, English and Dutch.
